Where Do You Start with a Liver Cleansing Diet? Easy! With a Acid and Alkaline Self-Test. Thinking about doing a liver cleansing diet and don’t know where to start? If you’re like me, you want to get the most from any liver cleanser treatment you do. I mean, I want the best results I can get for the effort I put in. At the same time I want a healthy detox. You’re probably the same. And a great starting point for anyone is knowing if your body is acidic or alkaline. Our bodies were designed to be strong, slender and energetic and - alkaline. The body is alkaline by design. So, it stands to reason that most problems can be traced back to an acidity problem. That includes fatigue, allergies, arthritis, osteoporosis and countless other chronic diseases and weight. That’s right common disorders – nothing rare or exotic. That means most people are in the firing line and it’s mostly due to something well within our control – our diet. You know how you feel after a rich meal, you bloat, sometimes get reflux and your stomach feels like a fermentation plant. Too much acid will do that to you. And it doesn’t go away! Because your eating habits don’t change so most people are permanently acidic and in desperate need of a liver cleansing diet. Acidity is definitely worth doing something about because when the body becomes is too acidic cell activity stops. That means accelerated aging, thin bones and less muscle mass and all the problems that come with it - something no one wants. The good news is you can remove acidic waste through seven channels of detoxification and elimination: the liver, colon, blood, skin, kidneys, lymphatic system and lungs. The liver is your second largest organ, second to skin, so it makes sense that as one of your most important organs it will have a huge impact on your results. So, a liver cleansing diet can slow down problems associated acids generated from refined foods, processed foods, household chemicals and pollution. Let’s stay with the weight issue for a minute. What happens if you have an acid problem? Your body clings to fats surrounding your major organs and protecting them from acids. That protection comes at a cost because your body dare not process or eliminate excess fats – it needs them. Still with me? But when you alkalize your body, you can let go of the fats since you no longer need them. Finally, some great news! Being under-weight is an acid problem too. Your over acidic digestive system prevents you from absorbing nutrients you eat. Alkalize you will fill out and gaining muscle mass. If any of this rings true for you then consider doing an acid and alkaline self test. Purchase some pH paper from any drugstore or chemist and apply saliva or urine to the paper. The paper will change colour indicating whether your system is overly acidic or alkaline. Red litmus paper turns blue in an alkaline medium and blue litmus paper turns red in an acidic medium. For optimum results perform the test either before eating or at least one hour after eating. Weight is only one indicator of an acidity problem. If you sigh frequently, suffer with insomnia or water retention, recessed eyes, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine headaches, abnormally low blood pressure, dry hard stools, foul smelling stools accompanied by a burning sensation, difficulty swallowing, burning in the mouth or under the tongue, sensitivity to vinegar and acidic fruits and bumps on the tongue or on the roof of the mouth – you have an acidity issue. Okay, you’ve done the test. What’s the ideal pH level? Water is considered neutral and has a pH of 7. Anything below 7 is considered acidic, while anything about a pH of 7 is alkaline. The ideal range for the human body is between 6.1-6.8. Some causes of acidosis include kidney, liver and adrenal disorders, improper diet, malnutrition, obesity, ketosis, anger, stress, fear, anorexia, toxemia, fever and an excess consumption of niacin, vitamin c or aspirin. Depending on the results of your acid and alkaline self test, merely altering your diet should bring your body back into pH balance. But this may take longer than you expect – a day or two of better eating might bring a little relief but it won’t do the entire job. Why? Because most foods people eat, fall into ‘acidic forming’. So breaking habits your eating patterns is probably your number one challenge. In fact, most people’s diets consist of nothing more than acid-forming food that means sugars, dairy products, white flour, artificial sweeteners, coffee, fruit juices and alcohol. So before you begin any liver cleanser diet or master cleanse or even fast that promises the world get an acid and alkaline self test. Your whole body cleanse will not only go smoother you will get better results and that’s what you really want. If you want to learn more about acidity just move on to the next article. | |
